About Richard Hails Engineering

Read about how Richard Hails Engineering has grown from one man with a van to the comprehensive commercial vehicle service and repair centre that it is today.

Richard Hails Engineering was established back in 1976 Starting out with only a small van and trailer to carry parts and tools. Richard would travel around servicing and repairing all types of mechanical equipment from lawn mowers, cars, trucks and tractors with the occasional combine repair during harvest months. Moving back to his family home during 1980 he was presented with the luxury of a building to work from, still repairing anything he could get his hands dirty with. The business progressed and an apprentice was taken on board, one gentleman that is still with the company today, albeit after a bit of globetrotting around the world for a few years.

2000 saw Richard’s son Jonathan join the family business having completed his apprenticeship with Volvo and gained experience at various workshops. The father and son duo grew the business and in 2006 the business was incorporated and soon out-grew their workshop requiring them to move to its current premises on the outskirts of Stowmarket.

2015 saw major steps taken by the company to try and futureproof its workshop, partially demolishing what they had and erecting 2 new bays allowing for a second pit and the installation of MAHA brake rollers.

2019 saw a sad time for the business as founder Richard passed away after a short illness.

2020 saw us achieve accreditation with Brigade electronics to make RHE LTD a Brigade service provider.
